A timber harvest often improves the wildlife habitat on a
piece of property. Harvesting timber allows sunlight to
penetrate down to the forest floor, which causes seeds of
all kinds to sprout and begin growing. This new growth
provides an important food source for all types of wildlife
including deer, turkeys, bears, squirrels, and a wide variety
of birds.
The trail systems that are created during a timber harvest
improve the landowner’s access throughout the property.
These trails can be used for all kinds of recreational
activities including hiking, biking, bird watching, cross-
country skiing, four-wheeling, and hunting.
